The Earl of CaithnessAccording to records held centrally, about five juveniles and 145 young adults were initially received into Brixton Prison in June 1987. On Friday 13th November, the most recent date for which figures are readily available, one juvenile and 89 young adults were held there. There are no plans to transfer any of these inmates to Feltham.

The Earl of CaithnessFollowing the appointment earlier this year of a part-time tutor librarian, library facilities for prisoners on F wing have improved considerably and a much better and more varied supply of books is now available.

The Earl of CaithnessPrisoners on F wing have a period of afternoon association for two or two and a half hours once every six days.

The Earl of CaithnessF wing of Brixton Prison is part of the hospital complex and houses nearly 200 unsentenced prisoners, many of whom are mentally disturbed. Organising the exercise of such prisoners presents serious difficulties for the prison staff and recently the period of exercise possible has averaged about 45 minutes a day, many prisoners choosing not to exercise for the full period allowed.
