HC Deb 18 November 1987 vol 122 c571W
Mr. Blunkett

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what account he took of the experience gained following the 1982 gales in the Sheffield area in formulating his proposals for dealing with the aftermath of the storm of 16 October.

Mr. Chope

The arrangements announced by the Government in my right hon. Friend's statement on 21 October at columns731–2 were drawn up after consultation with the local authority associations, and took into account wide experience both in central and local government.
