§ 66. Mr. LawrenceTo ask the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs whether he will seek a further opportunity of raising with the Soviet Foreign Minister the plight of those long-term refuseniks, such as Professor Alexander Lemer, who are still waiting for exit visas.
§ Mr. MellorWe continue to press the Soviet authorities to allow all refuseniks to leave. We have welcomed the recent resolution of some longstanding cases, including those of Vladimir Slepak and Ida Nudel, and hope that others like Professor Lerner will be similarly successful in obtaining exit visas soon. My right hon. and learned Friend will, of course, have such cases much in mind when he next meets Mr. Shevardnadze.
