§ Mr. Campbell-SavoursTo ask the Secretary of State for the Environment what seismic movements have occurred in the area of west Cumbria in the last two months.
§ Mr. MoynihanSeismic monitoring equipment operated by the British geological survey has detected one small seismic event in western Cumbria and its offshore area in the last two months. It occurred on 9 November with a magnitude of about 2.5 Richter and was felt on the Isle of Man. During October a number of other tremors were detected by instruments, but these are believed to have been caused by man-made disturbances such as sonic booms. Data processing for the period is not yet complete and further information may become available.
