HC Deb 17 November 1987 vol 122 c481W
Mr. Hoyle

To ask the Secretary of State for the Environment, pursuant to the answer of 10 November, whether the best consideration reasonably obtainable for the Spectrum arena is the same as the market price; if there is a reserve price; whether in his Department's recent consultations with Warrington and Runcorn development corporation concerning the Spectrum arena, any indication was given concerning the classification of the arena as a community-related asset; and if any parties are currently involved in negotiations over the sale of the arena.

Mrs. Roe

The price which can be obtained for the property on the open market is obviously the major factor in deciding whether "the best consideration" has been secured. The Department has not stipulated a reserve price, but we have advised the Development Corporation that we could not countenance a concessionary disposal. I understand that the Spectrum arena is now being marketed as part of a wider package of assets including the Birchwood district centre.
