HC Deb 17 November 1987 vol 122 cc503-4W
Mrs. Virginia Bottomley

To ask the Minister for the Civil Service what improvements have been made in the professionalism of the Civil Service since 1979.

Mr. Luce

In recent years the Civil Service has built on its traditional professionalism and dedication new strengths and skills which are an investment for the future. There is now a greater readiness to adapt efficiently to change, to manage the public service more effectively, and to pursue further improvements in value for money for the taxpayer and the citizen. More details of these changes are included in "Reforms at Work in the Civil Service", a copy of which is in the Libraries of Parliament.
