HC Deb 17 November 1987 vol 122 cc534-5W
Mr. Amess

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland (1) what information he has as to the total amount spent on alcohol for each of the years from 1972;

(2) what estimates are available to him as to the average total amount spent on alcohol per person in each of the years from 1972.

Mr. Lang

The table gives estimates, prepared by the Central Statistical Office, which are consistent with the United Kingdom figures for consumers' expenditure on alcoholic drink published in "United Kingdom National Accounts, 1986 edition" (the CSO Blue Book). These estimates are not comparable with those derived from the family expenditure survey.
