§ Mr. RentonThe grounds on which a person might claim asylum are varied and it is not possible to identify the number of occasions on which a claim of threatened execution was a principal factor in the decision to allow an individual to remain in the United Kingdom. Information on the outcome of all applications for asylum from Iraqi nationals decided in each year from 1979 to 1986 is given in tables 2 to 4 of the Home Office statistical bulletin "Refugee Statistics, United Kingdom, 1986" (Issue No. 13/87).
