HL Deb 16 November 1987 vol 490 cc76-7WA
Lord Jenkins of Putney

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether they have seen the report by the National Anti-Vivisection Society suggesting that AIDS may be a man-made side effect of biomedical research and whether this report is being investigated.

Lord Skelmersdale

We have seen, and considered, this report. Our expert advice is that the available evidence points to the AIDS virus having developed through natural causes, and nothing in the report would cause us to depart from this view.
