§ Lord James Douglas-HamiltonThere are more than 20 EC directives relating to the quality of water and these are applied by the local authorities, the river purification authorities and the Scottish Development Department, as appropriate. Where required, information on compliance with directives is collated by the Scottish Development Department and passed to the authorities in Brussels.
