HC Deb 12 November 1987 vol 122 cc322-3W
Mr. William Ross

To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many incidents of escapes of terrorists there have been from police custody and from prisons in Northern Ireland since 1968 to date; from which police stations, courts or prisons each such escape took place; how many persons escaped on each occasion; and to which terrorist group or groups they belonged.

Mr. Stanley

[holding answer 10 November 1987]: Information is not available for the whole period requested nor are details of terrorist affiliations, but such information as is readily available is shown in the table:

employers about preventing discrimination against people with HIV and haemophilia; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Viggers

In January 1987 the Department of Economic Development posted copies of a booklet "AIDS and Employment" to all known employers in Northern Ireland. The purpose of the booklet is to prevent unnecessary fear and worry at work which could lead to discrimination against those who might be infected. No general advice has been provided by the Department in respect of haemophilia. In addition the employment medical advisory service of the Department has medically qualified staff available to give free advice to employers and employees about all occupational health matters including AIDS and haemophilia. The Labour Relations Agency is also available to give expert advice on the employment aspects of such matters.
