Mrs. Rumbold

The information requested for each local education authority is not available. A sample survey of 500 maintained primary schools and 500 maintained secondary schools in England on school/industry links was undertaken in Industry Year 1986.

The survey shows that there were around 200 to 300 primary schools (about 1 per cent.) where a representative from industry had taken up a teaching or advisory post with them in 1986. Some 20,000 teachers (around 10 per cent.) in primary schools had previously worked in industry.
