HC Deb 12 November 1987 vol 122 cc213-4W
Mr. Pike

To ask the Secretary of State for the Home Department what report he has received on accidents and incidents arising from the use of fireworks on 5 November and the immediately preceding four weeks.

Mr. Maude

I have been asked to reply.

I am pleased to say that 5 November and the preceding three weeks seem to have been relatively quiet this year. I hope that this will be reflected in a fall in the number of injuries. However, I have seen reports of a number of incidents which confirm that the problem of hooligans misusing fireworks persists. Our response must be vigorous enforcement of the law in this area.
