To ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland what is the total number of convictions in Northern Ireland for procuring an illegal abortion in each year since 1957.

Mr. Needham

Police records show that since 1975, two persons have been found guilty of procuring an illegal abortion — one each in 1981 and 1983. Information is not available for the period prior to 1975.
