To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has any plans to move defence establishments to the northern region.

To ask the Secretary of State for Defence whether he has any proposals to disperse to the Cleveland area sections or departments of his Department.

Mr. Sainsbury

As has been stated in the House on several occasions, we are keen to see a more even spread of defence employment across the regions. The scope for further relocation of defence establishments is currently the subject of several studies. However, all proposals must be justified on both economic and operational grounds.
