§ Mr. Brooke[holding answer 4 November 1987]: The figures for scientific staff employed as operational research specialists in my Department since 1979 are given in the table. The increase in 1982 resulted fom the transfer of certain functions and staff from the Civil Service Department. The reduction in 1985 was due to some staff in CCTA being reclassified as administrators.
