§ Mrs. RumboldThe plans for 1988–89 allow for £87 million to be spent on non-teaching costs associated with the introduction of the GCSE. The equivalent figure for 1987–88 was £100 million. In both years the provision is in line with what local authorities collectively forecast would be needed.
