HC Deb 10 November 1987 vol 122 cc143-4W
Mr. Gould

To ask the Secretary of State for Scotland whether any(a) financial and (b) other assistance was given to the Ford Motor Company to help with the establishment of its plant at Dundee.

Mr. Lang

Under the terms of the Government's regional policy the Ford Motor Company has accepted an offer of financial assistance. For reasons of commercial confidentiality, the amount is not made public at this stage but will be published in "British Business", normally in the first quarter after the first payment of grant has been made. Considerable non-financial assistance was given to the company in relation to such matters as finding suitable sites, arranging meetings with potential supplier companies and providing information about the business environment in Scotland.
