§ Mr. MallonTo ask the Secretary of State for Northern Ireland how many requests have been made by prisoners serving sentences in Northern Ireland for transfer to prisons in Britain since 1968; and how many transfers have been made as a result of these requests.
§ Mr. Stanley[holding answer 3 November 1987]: Reliable records are available only in respect of applications for transfer since June 1973. There has been a total of 113 such applications since then, of which 57 were granted. A number of prisoners have made more than one request.
