§ Mr. Peter MorrisonThe Energy Efficiency Office estimates that the annual bill for energy consumed in public sector buildings is about £2 billion. Available evidence indicates that the scope for saving through improved energy efficiency could amount to £400 to £500 million a year. It is also estimated that roughly half the savings opportunities in all sectors can be realised through cost-effective investment and half through successful good housekeeping practices.
I regret it is not possible for the Energy Efficiency Office to provide a comprehensive and consistent breakdown of prospective savings in individual public sector bodies.
