HC Deb 09 November 1987 vol 122 cc50-1W
Mr. Dunnachie

To ask the Secretary of State for Employment if he will give the total number of claimants in the Glasgow, Pollok constituency who have been refused benefit through the decision of an independent adjudication officer, following a restart interview, in each month since the commencement of the restart scheme.

Mr. Cope

[holding answer 30 October 1987]: As my hon. Friend made clear in his reply on 26 October at column 32, any refusal of benefit subsequent to a restart interview follows not from the interview itself but from the decision of an independent adjudication officer operating under long-standing legal rules adopted by successive Governments.

The number of such decisions which follow a restart interview cannot be separately identified within the total number of decisions which follow from referrals to adjudication officers from unemployment benefit offices.
