§ Mr. Higginsasked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make it his policy that, following the special assistance for storm damage he announced after the recent hurricane, the total of Government grants, subvaluations and other forms of financial help to West Sussex county council should be increased not diminished.
§ Mr. ChopeThe Government have announced a scheme of generous financial assistance for local authorities affected by the storm on 16 October. We are prepared to interpret reasonably and flexibly the claims made under it.
