§ Mr. Fearnasked the Secretary of State for the Environment what assessment he has made of the possible impact of the Mersey barrage scheme on the beaches of Southport, Crosby, Formby and the Wirral peninsular.
§ Mr. MoynihanThe Mersey barrage company is currently carrying out a range of initial feasibility studies. These include hydraulic studies to assess the effect of a barrage on tidal range and currents in the Mersey estuary and will take account of the possible impact on beaches.
