Mr. Nigel Griffiths

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland what was the total identifiable allocation of public money made by the Government since 1979 to (a) Edinburgh, (b) Dundee, (c) Aberdeen and (d) Glasgow (i) in total, (ii) per person, (iii) per unemployed person, (iv) per unemployed person aged under 21 years and (v) per retirement pensioner, in each named district; and if he will also express the figures at 1987 prices.

The information is not readily available in the form requested and could be provided only at disproportionate cost. Identifiable provision for public expenditure by Aberdeen, Dundee, Edinburgh and Glasgow district councils from 1979–80 to 1987–88 is set out in the table.
