§ 56. Mr. Maddenasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will make a statement about the objectives and current progress of the review of the police initial recruitment test.
§ Mr. Douglas HoggThe purpose of the review is to examine the feasibility of replacing the existing PIR test with a new test of the same standard which is directed more accurately to the abilities which police officers need to do their job. The first stage of the review required a job evaluation of the tasks performed by police constables. That part of the works is now nearly complete.
