§ Mr. Andrew Smithasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what proposals Her Majesty's Government will be making to the International Cocoa Council at the end of November in order to reactivate the buffer stock of the international cocoa agreement.
§ Mr. Donald Thompson[holding answer 4 November 1987]: The Government will he seeking implementation 833W of the provisions of the international cocoa agreement for a downward revision of the price range for cocoa, taking into account current market developments and long-term trends, so that the remaining resources of the cocoa buffer stock are used as effectively as possible to promote long-term stability in the cocoa sector.
