HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 c855W
Mr. Leighton

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what is the cost to the National Health Service of a hearing aid.

Mr. Scott

The National Health Service provides a range of different types of hearing aids but the Department does not collect this information centrally. Responsibility for supplying hearing aids in England and Wales was transferred to Mersey regional health authority on 1 April 1985.

The hon. Member may therefore wish to contact the regional chairman direct.
