Mr. Teddy Taylor

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what was the total of the additional funds which he made available to health authorities to assist them with pay rises in the current financial year; when the payments were made; and if he will publish a list of the authorities and amounts concerned.

My right hon. Friend the Member for Sutton Coldfield (Mr. Fowler) announced on 23 April 1987 that the Government were providing an additional £264 million for the hospital and community health services in England to help meet the cost in 1987–88 of the pay review body awards for doctors, dentists, nurses, midwives and the professions allied to medicine. The additional funds were allocated as follows:
