HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 cc852-3W
Mr. Radice

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services (1) whether he will take steps to inform general dental practitioners about their rights relating to the Dental Estimates Board computer at Bournemouth;

(2) if he will take steps to inform dental practitioners of the degree of protection given under the terms of the Data Protection Act to records concerning them held by the Dental Estimates Board.

Mrs. Currie

Publicity about the provisions of the Data Protection Act is the responsibility of the Data Protection Registrar, who is mounting a publicity campaign to inform all data subjects of their rights. The rights of general dental practitioners and their patients in relation to the Dental Estimates Board's computer records are the same as those of any person whose record is maintained on a computer.
