HC Deb 05 November 1987 vol 121 cc793-4W
Mr. Michael Marshall

asked the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster whether any changes will be made to the Department of Trade and Industry's cash limits or running costs for 1987–88.

Mr. Butcher

The cash limit of class V, vote 2 (support for industry) will be reduced by £7 million from £471.249 million to £464.249 million. This change reflects forecast reduced requirements for the innovation programme.

The running cost limit of the Department of Trade and Industry is reduced by £399,000 from £275.771 million to £275.372 million. This reduction reflects the net effect of the reclassification out of running costs of the cost of external inspections under the Companies Act 1985 and the transfer of provision from the Department of Employment for staff in the inner cities unit and the enterprise and deregulation unit.
