HC Deb 04 November 1987 vol 121 c717W
Mr. Andrew MacKay

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs if he will make a statement about the work of the Survey Office in Hong Kong.

Mr. Eggar

The Survey Office was established to invite, collect, collate and report on the response of the public to the Hong Kong Government's Green Paper "The 1987 Review of Developments in Representative Government". It submitted its report to the Governor on 29 October. The independent monitors who were appointed to oversee the work of the office submitted their report to the Governor on 30 October. Copies of the two reports were tabled in the Legislative Council in Hong Kong today. Copies have also been placed in the Library of the House. The reports will now be carefully considered prior to publication by the Hong Kong Government of a White Paper in the new year.
