HC Deb 04 November 1987 vol 121 c725W
32. Mr. Livsey

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he has any plans to allow local authorities to spend more then 20 per cent. of their capital receipts from council house sales on housing needs; and if he will make a statement.

Mrs. Roe

Local authorities can use their capital receipts at any time to redeem debt or for non-prescribed expenditure such as capitalised repairs. The future use of capital receipts from the sale of council houses will be discussed in the Government's forthcoming consultation paper on a new financial regime for local authority housing.
