HC Deb 04 November 1987 vol 121 cc731-2W
70. Mr. Tony Lloyd

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement on central Government support for housing initiatives in the city of Manchester and the borough of Trafford.

Mr. Waldegrave

In Manchester, my Department's estate action unit approved additional capital allocations of £1,048,000 in 1986–87 and £915,000 in 1987–88 for work to the Miles Platting council estate; and £351,000 in 1986–87 to help the homeless. Urban programme grant for environmental work at Miles Platting has also been approved: £784,383 was available in 1986–87 and £1,270,232 this year.

Both Manchester and Trafford are expected to make bids shortly for estate action support for new schemes in 1987–88.
