§ Mr. GummerGrants for hedge removal were abolished in 1976 except where the removal was ancillary to drainage work. Grants even of this restrictive kind were discontinued for all new commitments on 1 December 1983. Since 1985 grants of up to 60 per cent. have been available for the provision, replacement or improvement of hedges and hedgerow trees.
