§ Mr. Nicholas Wintertonasked the Secretary of State for Social Services, pursuant to his reply of 26 October, Official Report, column 175, how many of the 69.7 per cent. of abortions after 18 weeks which were performed upon women with no previous children were performed upon women who had had a previous abortion.
§ Mr. Newton[holding answer 2 November 1987]: of the 5,770 notified abortions at 18 weeks and over gestation performed in England and Wales in 1986 on women with no previous children, 722 (12.5 per cent.) were performed on women who had had a previous abortion.
