HC Deb 02 November 1987 vol 121 c547W
Mr. Wray

askedthe Secretary of State for Scotland how many school boards would be created under his proposals contained in the consultative paper "School Management and the Rôle of the Parents" in the whole of the Strathclyde regional council area.

Mr. Michael Forsyth

The Government's proposal is that there should be one board for each primary and secondary school, but that schools with 100 pupils or less might be grouped under single boards. Any grouping arrangements would be for local decision.

Mr. Wray

asked the Secretary of State for Scotland how many Strathclyde regional council representatives would be required in order to take part in the meetings of the school boards proposed by his consultative paper "School Management and the Rôle of Parents".

Mr. Michael Forysyth

We have proposed that the education authority should appoint one representative to each school board. It would be for the education authority itself to decide who should be its representatives.
