§ Mr. MoynihanThe level of future sulphur emissions will depend on factors such as future economic growth and energy demand, and estimates are therefore subject to considerable uncertainty. Official United Kingdom estimates, expressed, as a range, are available only for the years 1990 and 2000, as follows: 583W
(000 tonnes SO2) 1990 3,400–4,200 2000 2,600–3,500 In 1986 the executive body of the convention on long-range transboundary air pollution completed a major review of national strategies and policies for air pollution abatement, in the course of which estimates of future SO2 emissions were provided by most European countries.
