§ Mr. Jannerasked the Secretary of State for the Home Department (1) to which branches of the organisation known as Conservatives Abroad overseas registration documents have been supplied;
(2) by whom the review of the need for guidance on the distribution methods of overseas electors' declaration forms referred to in his answer to the hon. and learned Member for Leicester, West on 22 April, Official Report, column 531, is being carried out.
§ Mr. Douglas Hogg[pursuant to his reply, 8 May 1987, c. 548]: I regret that my original reply was incomplete. The full reply is as follows.
Overseas electors' declaration forms were distributed widely by our diplomatic missions. Information is not available centrally on all the bodies which received copies of the forms, but in practice missions would have supplied copies to anybody, including a branch of Conservatives Abroad, which requested them.
The need for guidance on the methods of distribution was considered jointly by this Department and the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. The Foreign and Commonwealth Office issued guidance on 5 May on the lines indicated in my answer of 22 April at column 531.
