HL Deb 14 May 1987 vol 487 cc816-7WA
Viscount Mountgarret

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether, in view of the evidence recently submitted showing the economic benefits of extending the period of British Summer Time, they will either press for BST to start on the last Sunday in February finishing on the second Sunday in November, or harmonise with Central European time throughout the year when renegotiating the present arrangements with our European partners later this year.

The Minister of State, Home Office (The Earl of Caithness)

Before reaching a decision about future arrangements for Summer Time, Her Majesty's Government wish to take into account evidence and opinions from all interested parties.
