§ Mr. Nicholas EdwardsIn March 1987 there were 6,664 persons unemployed in the Neath and Port Talbot travelto-work area. This is equivalent to an unemployment rate of 13.1 per cent. The earliest data available for this travel-to-work area for a corresponding month for March 1984, when the figures were 8,241 and 16.3 per cent. respectively. These figures are not directly comparable because of a change in the method of compiling the statistics in March 1986.
