§ Mr. McCrindleasked the Secretary of State for Transport if, in view of congestion now evident on the M25 between the A12 and the M11, he will consider reintroducing a new trunk road on the line of the abandoned M12.
§ Mr. Peter BottomleyNo. The M25 caters for traffic moving around London. A road along the line of the M12 would serve radial traffic. I am satisfied that the needs of radial traffic can be met by junction improvements on the existing A12. The A12/M11 section of M25 is coping quite satisfactorily with a heavy traffic flow. We shall continue to monitor its operation closely.
