§ Sir Peter Millsasked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what is the Government's policy on the use of bovine somatotropin.
§ Mr. Jopling[pursuant to his reply, 8 May 1987]: Although trials of this substance have been authorised under the Medicines Act, no applications for licences which would allow its commercial use have been received. Any such applications would have to be judged by the strict criteria laid down in the Act. I have asked the Farm Animal Welfare Council for its advice on the animal welfare implications of the use of bovine somatotropin.
