§ Mr. LuceThere are no immediate plans for changing 'the present system for accepting items in lieu of tax, although procedures continue to be kept under review.
§ 51. Mr. Fairbairnasked the Minister for the Arts what has been the total spent from the contingency reserves for acceptance in lieu of tax since September 1985.
§ Mr. LuceThe total sum spent from the reserve since September 1985 is £1,314,549. In addition, the necessary funds will be made available from the reserve in the current financial year to enable the Government to acquire Constable's painting Stratford Mill for the nation.
