§ Mr. RentonAscension Island services and the Royal Air Force periodically undertake cat culls to ensure that 527W the feral cat population does not increase to a level at which it becomes a serious threat to public health or the bird life of the Island. The most recent was last month, when 35 cats were destroyed. The next is scheduled for June. In 1986, 273 feral cats were destroyed.
