§ Mr. Newton[pursuant to his reply, 21 January 1987, c. 623]: The table shows the information requested for England, and for each of the regional health authorities. for the years 1979 to 1985 inclusive. (The September 1985 manpower figures are the latest available to this level of detail). To obtain this information for each district health authority would be disproportionately expensive, and even then, the figures for 1979–81 would not be directly comparable with those for 1982 and later years, due to boundary changes occurring as a result of the 1982 NHS reorganisation.
