§ Mr. WaddingtonMohammad Jamil Khan applied to the British embassy in Islamabad on 5 January for a visa for a six-month visit to relatives in the United Kingdom. Since the application did not appear to be straightforward, it was referred to the Home Office on 11 January for inquiries to be made in this country. This has taken longer than I would have wished, but the inquiries should be completed by the end of the month. Their result will be sent to the embassy, who will make a decision on Master Khan's application and inform his father of it direct. This delay is by no means typical of applications made in Islamabad, where over 90 per cent. of visit visa cases are dealt with on the same day.
