HC Deb 05 May 1987 vol 115 c365W
Sir Patrick Wall

asked the Secretary of State for Defence what progress is being made over the development of the airborne short-range anti-aircraft missile and the collaborative project for a medium range stand-off missile.

Mr. Archie Hamilton

The United Kingdom is collaborating with Germany and Norway on the current project definition (PD) phase for the Advanced Short Range Air to Air Missile (ASRAAM) which is expected to be completed in the autumn. A second phase of PD is then planned so that areas of technical risk may be further reduced and costs defined.

Negotiations are proceeding between the Governments of the United States, the United Kingdom, France, Germany, Italy, Spain and Canada on the Memorandum of Understanding governing the principles for the collaborative modular stand off weapons programme.
