HC Deb 05 May 1987 vol 115 cc322-3W
Mr. Nellist

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what recent representations Her Majesty's Government have received or made concerning military offensives by Indonesia in East Timor.

Mr. Renton

We have no evidence to support suggestions that Indonesia has launched military offensives in East Timor in recent months. Our impression is that the situation in East Timor is generally quiet, though minor incidents may still occur in those areas where low-level conflict persists.
