HC Deb 05 May 1987 vol 115 c349W
Mr. Warren

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food if he will discuss with the Rother district council, the Southern water authority and the East Sussex county council what action can be taken, as a matter of urgency, to protect houses at Fairlight, in the constituency of Hastings and Rye, faced with imminent destruction by the collapse of cliffs into the sea.

Mr. Donald Thompson

It is for the coast protection authority—Rother District Council in this case—to promote such schemes as it wishes to carry out to protect the Fairlight area. I understand that the council has engaged consultants to study the problem and that a report is expected in June.
