HC Deb 30 March 1987 vol 113 c341W
Mrs. Dunwoody

asked the Attorney-General if he will make the gathering of information on ethnic origins compulsory, and publish the percentage of entrants to the Lord Chancellor's Department and the Law Officers Department who failed to respond to the ethnic origins questionnaire.

The Attorney-General

I refer the hon. Member to the answer given on 24 March by my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister, at column 98, when she affirmed that there are no plans at present to make the ethnic surveys compulsory and that the results of the survey will be published.

Information on response rates in the existing new entrant surveys is not readily available.
